What’s the Altruist story?

Altruist was developed by leading British dermatologist and skin surgeon, Dr Andrew Birnie, and his friend, Dutch economist David Westerbeek van Eerten. With the help of a leading formulation scientist, the two friends created Altruist, in their spare time. Costs are kept low thanks to their own personal connections who help produce the product – as a result, these savings are passed on to the consumer with a very low price point. Altruist donates to charities who provide support to children with albinism in Tanzania and the rest of Africa where 100% of children with albinism show signs of sun-related skin damage by the age of 10. Altruist donates 10 pence from the sale of every bottle. Together with partners Dermcos and Rossmann we have donated over 160.000 tubes of sunscreen since 2016.
